Barely three minutes long, this is another gorgeous silent short, this time a grainy set of beautiful locked-off shots of the San Francisco skyline. Like Robert Cahen's Le Cercle (which I have just watched), A Roll for Peter is effectively timeless, representative of the time it was made (2016), but evocative (and poetic) enough to suggest transmitted images from the past or the future. It could also be read as a lovely time-in-place "postcard" from one friend to another, which, given that the project was a homage to Peter Hutton, is actually true.
